Highlights of our Israel and Jordon Trip (in no particular order):

  • Walking 80 K on the 65 K Jesus Trail;
  • Fabulous meals at Yarok Az Eco Lodge,  Arbel Guest House,  Peggy and Hertzel's home, and with Ali in the dessert;

  • The garden at the Arbel Guesthouse;
  • The descent down the cliff face at Mount Arbel;
  • Experiencing the Old City of Jerusalem;
  • Staying at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sion convent in Jerusalem;
  • Climbing the snake path at Masada before dawn to see the sunrise over Jordan and the Dead Sea;
  • Hiking in Ein Gedi;
  • Floating in the Dead Sea;
  • Spending time with cousins Peggy and Hertzel and their son Roz and his wife Shay;
  • Hiking in the dessert and looking for treasures with Peggy;
  • Petra, especially climbing to the Monastery;
  • Wadi Rum with our driver and nature/mountain guide/chef Ali; and
  • Relearning that some of the best experiences are the ones you do not plan.

What we learned from this experience
  • Mark all trail updates on your map;
  • Never assume hikers in front of you are on the same trail;
  • Closed for Shabbat really means closed for Shabbat.
