On August 26 we leave Calgary for Geneva to start our most ambitious hike yet, the Tour du Mont Blanc. We will cross three international borders, walk at least 180 kilomters, and climb and descend close to 10,000 meters over two weeks taking a few days off to enjoy small alpine villages in Switzerland, Italy and France. We will post when we can, that is when we have WiFi. Some of the time we will be staying in remote mountain huts or "Rifugios" where we will be served supper and breakfast but may not have the luxury of Internet. Other times we may be in world renowned alpine climbing centers with equipment shops on every corner and cable cars zipping tourists up the slopes. Our accommodation has been booked through Alpine Exploratory in the UK who have provided us with a detailed itinerary, directions, contacts and route cards for every hike, We expect to get a few sore muscles but the amazing scenery, great food and a new adventure will be all the compensation anyone could ask for.
