Day 3: October 14, Cana to Ilaniya (12.4K)

Our cabin at Yarok

Trail near Yarok

We are in a charming rustic cabin with white eyelet curtains and see thru plaster walls at the Yarok Az Eco Lodge and Organic Goat Farm. Actually, the walls are not really see through - just seem to be made of some kind of plastered burlap. It is really very cute and we have a lovely breeze coming through our three windows.  And, all is well as long as it doesn't rain (which seems very unlikely).

Day three went almost perfect, with only two minor path finding issues although that might be because we learned our lesson yesterday. The trail was very pleasant as we walked though a forest reserve and had lovely views of the countryside - and were quite alone - there were no other walkers to be seen.

We arrived early, in mid afternoon, and found our charming hostess. It is an interesting spot with some other guests who are camping on the site. There are goats in a pen, horses, and lots of vegetables growing in raised beds. The farm is on the outskirts of the small village of Ilaniya so we walked into town and found a corner store to stock up on bottled water and other beverages. Then we washed clothes at one of the outdoor sinks for the purpose and soon had things strung around to dry - with one outfit to wear and one in the pack it is laundry almost every day. In this hot dry climate everything dries easily.

Our hostess offers meals so we asked for a vegetarian dinner. It was fabulous: lentil soup, salad, a platter of roasted root veg, bread, sweets and a big jug of homemade lemonade.
