Day 2 to St. Bees

Left Manchester at 10:00 on the direct train to Carlisle. Stopped in Carlisle to shop: cellphone, umbrellas, Marks and Spence for lunch and best of all visited Lush. We asked if they knew Jill in Canada.... Switched trains at Carlisle for the local train to Whitehaven. Short cab ride 6 km to St. Bees. A little concerned when our cabdriver had to phone to find our accommodation, the West Coast B&B! Weather gods not in our favor for tomorrow, expect high winds and rain from the tail end of Katia - who knew! It can only get better from here. Ran into a group of 6 Aussies, two generations, including the 73 yr old mother, who are also heading out on the C2C tomorrow. Dinner at the C2C Bar in the Manor House Hotel. Our waiter tonight, Jordan, is with the local fire department so we have connections! Tomorrow's destination is Low Cock How Farm but not sure if accommodation at working farms include internet connection! Will write soon.....

  3. Once again, hoping the winds are to your back. I'm reading on BBC Weather that "commuters and drivers are urged to leave extra time for journeys as strong winds are expected to batter Scotland and northern England." Stay safe and don't get blown off track. xo cw
